This interior design project for a single-family home focuses on reclaiming the property’s personality and updating its internal spaces to better suit the client’s needs. While maintaining the existing internal layout, the aim was to breathe new life and character into spaces that, although well-preserved, required refurbishment.

Of particular note among the various rooms is the living area—a double-height space with great potential. However, due to the configuration of two staircases meeting in the corner and the slanted wall against which the main sofa rested, the room felt empty and uninviting.

The proposal involves reorganising the staircase by introducing a platform that wraps around and defines the living area. This element also helps to organise the large bespoke sofa, designed to serve as a gathering point for the whole family. Above this platform, to resolve the triangular junction of the varying ceiling planes, a unique shelving unit has been designed to act as a sculptural backdrop featuring indirect lighting.

Regarding the master bedroom and dressing room, the spaces have been reorganised to take full advantage of their generous proportions. In the master bedroom, a window seat with integrated storage has been created to enclose the space and add warmth. The dressing room is designed with closed wardrobes and internal lighting, varying the door finishes to create an interplay of transparency and depth within the design.
