Located within a large industrial warehouse near the Fira de Barcelona, a private company commissioned us to produce a 3D proposal and technical drawings for the refurbishment of the staff kitchenette and breakroom.

Upon visiting the site, we realised its significant potential, situated as it is at the junction between two wings of the warehouse with direct access to a lightwell. The gabled roof, exposed trusses, and visible service ducts lend the space an industrial aesthetic that served as the starting point for the new design.

One of the challenges of this commission was the client’s requirement that yellow—one of their corporate logo colours—should feature prominently in the proposal. It proved to be a demanding task to strike the right balance between the various elements to create a space that felt both warm and modern, whilst adhering to the corporate branding.

The layout divides the space into two zones: a kitchen area featuring cabinetry, a fridge, a sink, and a breakfast bar with stools; and a second area which was kept open to accommodate two bespoke round tables, designed specifically for this project, where the legs take the form of two letters from the company name. To ensure a cohesive aesthetic, the existing doors, the suspended ceiling, and the exposed services were all painted black, matching the furniture and integrating the entire ensemble.
